When I was a kid growing up in Mendocino County, I would watch the hawks soaring in the sky from our house on the ridge line. I wanted to know what it was like to fly so effortlessly, with so much freedom. At times, it felt like I became the hawk, riding the updraft high above the valley or tucking my wings and jetting over the tops of the native oak trees.
The origin of this company is rooted in a serious passion for birds, an addiction to fine coffee, a sense of adventure, and the love of riding bikes.
We thrive on human connectivity. The ability of the coffee roaster himself to hand beans straight into the hands of his consumer is what we are all about.
Being a small artisan roasting company allows us unlimited options for producing the absolute best cup of coffee while, at the same time, leaving the slightest mark on our local environment and that of our products’ origin.
We start our process by searching for the highest quality beans sourced from small-lot farms, grown sustainably, and delivered to us through the most ethically elevated business standards. We like to honor the work of those who’ve labored in faraway places, like the Guatemalan harvesters who pick the ripe red cherries grown at farms near the base of two massive volcanos or the indigenous Tzeltal people who process and load the bags of green beans at washing stations onto the backs of donkeys heading to shipping yards.
Our beans are roasted-to-order, ensuring a very fresh product packaged in craft paper bags, individually stamped and inscribed with handwritten notes about roasting levels and times of roasting, right down to the very minute the beans come out of the roaster.
Santa Rosa residents have the option of bicycle delivery, a fun way for us to get our beans to you, highlighting our commitment to a low carbon footprint.
We also work hand in hand with local restaurants and cafes, which are guided by the same farm-to-table pledge to the community.
Life is short… let's make it a good ride.
